Strathmore is a thriving community located 35 minutes east of Calgary. Strathmore District Health Services is a busy rural hospital that provides emergency care to over 23,000 patients annually. Strathmore Hospital offers a broad range of care to patients across the lifespan, utilizing an electronic tracking system and providing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for emergency patients. The ideal candidate must collaborate with the multi‑disciplinary team, assess, coordinate, supervise, administer and evaluate the provision of health services and resources.
Current nursing knowledge and efficient communication and leadership skills are required. You will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients and families in a diverse population, focusing on an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. You will accept responsibility for continuing competence through ongoing professional development, including participation in education, orientation, and continuous quality improvement activities.
You will follow nursing standards and protocols as required. The RN position requires physical demands such as lifting, pulling, pushing, walking, standing, transferring and transporting patients and equipment frequently.
Description
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well‑being. In this role you will utilize nursing processes involving critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, and you will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance.
You will provide safe, quality, patient‑and family‑centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values.
NOTE:
Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.
Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP) certification.
If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1‑4) and NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.
Additional
Required Qualifications
1 year of current Emergency or Intensive Care Unit experience or 2 years of current med/surg/acute care experience.
Triage Nurse experience.
Rural Nurse experience.
Certifications:
ACLS, CTAS, TNCC, NRP, NVCI, PALS or ENPC.
Preferred Qualifications
Critical care experience.
Charge Nurse experience.
Demonstrated excellent assessment, organizational, patient care and leadership skills.
