Nurse Practitioner - Neurosurgery

Make a difference in the lives of Albertans by joining the Clinical Neurosciences team at Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) as a Nurse Practitioner (NP). The Neurosurgery NP is a self-directed Advanced Practice Nurse with graduate-level education who practices within a collaborative care model. Reporting to the Manager, the NP provides comprehensive neurosurgical care to adult inpatients  one of Canada's largest hospitals, FMC delivers advanced healthcare services to more than two million people across Calgary, southern Alberta, southeastern British Columbia, and southern Saskatchewan.

This is a unique opportunity to join a highly engaged and passionate team of five Nurse Practitioners working in partnership with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care to patients with neurosurgical conditions and their families. As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems.

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support
- Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Demonstrated commitment to clinical, leadership, and professional development.

Minimum of 2 years (within the last
5) experience as an NP in a relevant acute care clinical setting OR a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Neurosciences as an RN. Experience using an order entry and/or electronic patient record system.

A satisfactory criminal record check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search is required prior to your first day of work. Additionally, all employees have an ongoing duty to disclose any charges or convictions that may occur during their employment with AHS.
