Acute Care Assistant Head Nurse

Lead acute care nursing in Strathmore as an Assistant Head Nurse, using clinical judgment and clear communication. This temporary part-time position follows day shifts.

Alberta Health Services seeks an Assistant Head Nurse to lead the Acute Care Unit and support the Emergency Department. You will guide nursing staff, coordinate patient flow, and provide frontline care when required. The role supports safe, patient and family centered care through clinical leadership, mentoring, and quality improvement.

• Coordinate staff assignments and patient flow
• Guide nursing staff and multidisciplinary team members
• Provide clinical resources, advocacy, and frontline nursing care
• Facilitate meetings, transfers, education, and information sharing
• Represent the Manager within collective agreement limitations

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program
• Active or eligible CRNA registration and practice permit
• Current BCLS-HCP and ALCS provider certification
• Code response and acute care leadership experience
• Conflict management, quality improvement, and change leadership experience
