Wildfire Management Forest Officer

Step into the role of Forest Officer with the Ministry of Forestry and Parks based in Calgary, AB, specializing in wildfire management. Leverage your firefighting knowledge and forestry expertise to protect natural resources.

This permanent, full-time position involves active participation in the Wildfire Management Program. Reporting to the Wildfire Technologist, you will manage wildfire activities, supervise initial attack crews, and coordinate emergency responses. Your experience with compliance and forest health initiatives will be essential in promoting safe environmental practices across Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engage in forest management and wildfire suppression

• Supervise seasonal firefighting crews effectively

• Ensure compliance with firefighting standards and permits

• Actively contribute to Fire Smart initiatives

• Monitor inspections and address non-compliance issues

Requirements:

• Two-year diploma in Forestry or equivalent

• Minimum three years of relevant experience

• Leadership or supervisory experience is a plus

• Eligibility for Alberta forest professionals

• Willingness to take on emergency duties and travel
