Emergency Veterinary Assistant

Support emergency care at the Calgary Animal Referral and Emergency Centre as a full-time Veterinary Assistant. This role involves caregiver duties in a 24-hour specialty hospital, including assisting with patient assessments.

The CARE Centre is hiring an Emergency Veterinary Assistant. In this position, you will assist veterinarians and Animal Health Technologists (AHTs) with various tasks including patient treatment and sample collection. You’ll also provide emotional and physical support to pets while maintaining the cleanliness of the hospital treatment areas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform restraint techniques during patient assessments

• Assist in collecting samples and taking radiographs

• Provide emotional and physical support to patients

• Maintain cleanliness in hospital treatment areas

• Complete general ICU and hospital maintenance tasks

Requirements:

• Experience in a veterinary or animal healthcare role

• Familiarity with basic animal care procedures

• Strong communication skills for team collaboration

• Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts

• Passion for helping animals in emergency situations
