Full-Time Animal Care Technician Role

Join the University of Calgary as a Full-Time Animal Care Technician, focusing on animal welfare and research service. This role supports hands-on learnings in a fast-paced environment.

This Limited Term position spans approximately 24 months, where you will be responsible for the welfare of laboratory animals. Tasks will involve monitoring health, following strict protocols, and providing technical assistance under the veterinarians' direction. Your flexibility will be key to managing peak times and emergencies at the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure proper care of all laboratory animal species

• Assess animal health and communicate findings to Veterinarians

• Perform technical procedures, including injections and treatments

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the facility

• Educate users on proper animal care procedures

Requirements:

• Capable of working independently with little supervision

• Understanding of animal care compliance standards

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

• Familiarity with IRISS and MOSAIC systems

• Ability to follow safety protocols
