Wilder Institute's Calgary Zoo is seeking an Animal Care Technician for a fixed-term role. Ideal candidates will have at least two years of experience in animal care, specifically within accredited facilities. This role involves monitoring animal health, maintaining habitats, and assisting in education programs, driving operational excellence in animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide and monitor dietary needs for various animals
• Conduct assessments of animal health and body condition
• Maintain cleanliness and standards of animal habitats
• Mentor Animal Care Assistants in daily tasks
• Record and report animal behavior changes accurately
Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years animal care experience
• Bachelor's degree in Zoology or related field
• Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s license
• Knowledge of animal welfare protocols and standards
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
Support animal welfare and education initiatives as an integral part of the Calgary Zoo team.
