Become a vital part of the University of Calgary's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine as a Full-time Temporary Clinical Teaching Technician. This role will engage you in practical and clinical skills education across multiple animal species.
The position requires a Registered Veterinary Technologist to facilitate teaching sessions in undergraduate courses, focusing on various animal species including small, large, and equine. You will support practical instruction and collaborate with faculty and other professionals to create a rich learning environment. Your expertise in herd health management is essential for providing students with safe educational experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure teaching animals are available and healthy for courses
• Prepare resources for clinical and practical teaching sessions
• Provide technical support in anesthesiology, surgery, and diagnostics
• Develop veterinary teaching simulators under faculty guidance
• Monitor animal health and report to the Veterinarian
Requirements:
• Diploma in Animal Health Technology and registration in Alberta
• 3-5 years clinical experience as an Animal Health Technologist
• Knowledge of operating room procedures and aseptic techniques
• Proficient in handling various animal species, especially large ones
• Strong communication skills to interact with students and faculty
