Join the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary as a Full-Time Asphalt Research Technologist. Contribute to groundbreaking projects focused on developing advanced asphalt materials.
This fixed-term role emphasizes asphalt mix testing and performance evaluation to support leading-edge research in civil engineering. You'll be involved in innovative characterization projects under the guidance of the Industrial Chair in Bituminous Materials, requiring strong teamwork and independent problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up and conduct advanced tests on asphalt and paving mixtures
• Maintain and organize laboratories for optimal function
• Review and document testing procedures in line with ASTM standards
• Mentor students in testing techniques and laboratory procedures
• Design and operate specialized laboratory equipment
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in asphalt materials
• Knowledge of Superpave mix design and binder testing
• Strong organizational and analytical abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Familiar with Microsoft Office and data systems
