Compliance Auditor – Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS)

The Role
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Compliance Auditor to join our Regulatory team. This role is essential in supporting environmental compliance through high‑quality audits, expert guidance, and exceptional client service. Our auditors are trusted advisors—recognized for their deep expertise in air monitoring and regulatory frameworks across Canada.

Key Responsibilities Primary Functions- Conduct annual Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) audits in accordance with:
- Alberta CEMS Code
- ECCC protocols and performance specifications for continuous gaseous emission monitoring
- Perform audits under the Alberta Air Monitoring Directive (AMD) and related regulations.
- Oversee full project cycles, including:
- Scheduling and coordination
- Client communication and relationship management
- Budget tracking
- Delivery of audit outcomes
- Prepare detailed audit reports including:
- Findings
- Non‑conformances
- Recommendations
- Compliance assessments
- Deliver regulatory training to clients on-site when required.
- Participate in internal regulatory training to support team development.
- Assist with quality control of client reports and supporting documentation.
- Provide technical guidance related to:
- CEMS performance
- Regulatory compliance obligations
- Best‑practice approaches
- Provide internal and external support as needed.
- Complete administrative documentation (job sheets, time sheets, expense reports).
- Participate in the company Quality Management Program.
- Engage in company Safety Programs and initiatives.
- Perform other duties assigned by leadership as required.
Minimum Requirements
- BSc. or equivalent education in environmental monitoring or emissions monitoring.
- 5+ years of experience in air emissions monitoring systems and/or regulatory compliance, with strong knowledge of continuous emissions monitoring regulations in North America.
- Experience with stack testing methods such as:
- Alberta Stack Sampling Code
- BC Field Sampling Manual
- US EPA regulations
- Proven project management ability, including on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to travel extensively.
- Comfortable with heights (ability to climb up to 150 feet on ladders).
- Willingness to travel:
- ~80% travel during peak season (Sep–Jan)
- 10–20% travel during non‑peak periods
- Background in emissions monitoring, environmental regulation, and/or auditing processes.
- Proficiency with computers, including:
- MS Office Suite
- Web‑based systems and applications
