Inspection Advisor
NSB Omega is searching for an Inspection Advisor for our MAJOR Oil & Gas Client in Strathcona, AB.
Assignment Description
MAIN FUNCTIONS
• Promote safety in all aspects of Inspection Execution
• Coordinate onstream inspections for process units and ensure inspections are completed as per internal Company practices
• Complete internal integrity assessments of piping and pressure vessels as per API and ABSA requirements
• Identify damage mechanisms as per API 571 or Internal Company practices
• Provide a high level of expertise in Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) inspection techniques (ex. Phase Array Inspections)
• Monitor production processes and perform surveillance activities in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Coordinate and oversee activities of 3rd party and/or Contractor source inspectors
• Perform surveillance activities, quality inspection activities in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
• Provide direction to suppliers on quality management. Review and evaluate Contractor’s and Suppliers’ quality documents for accuracy and adequacy
• Manage interfaces and coordination between Suppliers, Contractors, Quality Supervision and other Project Team disciplines (e.g. Engineering, Construction)
• Participate in final inspection release activities, review of supplier Quality Control documents and support closure of punch list items
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide leadership / expertise in quality inspection activities, make judgments and decisions the technical and physical adequacy of associated equipment and systems
• Provides input to and validate Contractor’s / Supplier procedures for inspection and for testing / examining components
• Review Inspection reports and make recommendations to the business team on
• Steward the Inspection program for the business team and ensure all integrity inspections are completed as per RBI and regulatory requirements
• Interface with Engineering disciplines to provide inspection and testing expertise in the development and review of fixed equipment repairs
• Coordinate activities of 3rd party Inspectors, in conjunction with Supplier’s Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) team
• Utilize Quality Management expertise to perform audits and/or assessments of Contractors / Supplier implementation of inspection activities and document deficiencies
• Perform supplementary inspections and verifications in accordance with requirements of the Inspection and Testing Plan (ITP) and the Project Surveillance Plan(s)
• Provide early warning of potential quality problems and the expertise to avoid / resolve them
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• API 510, API 570 and ABSA ISI Certification is mandatory
• 10+ years of experience completing inspections in the Oil and Gas industry preferably as a Unit Inspector in a petrochemical facility
• Experience completing internal integrity assessments or RBI of pressure vessels such as towers, drums and reactors.
• Bachelors or Advanced degree in Engineering or Science is preferred but not required
• Experience executing project construction or quality assurance/control of procurement or construction activities
• Manufacturing, fabrication or construction experience related to project scope
• Must be proficient in common PC software (MS Word, MS Excel, etc.)
• Read, write and speak fluent English with strong management, leadership and communication skills
