Geologic
AI is a Calgary-based start-up developing and deploying exciting new technologies for the energy and mining sectors. We build nifty geological robots that scan rocks, train AI to analyze the scan data, and make fancy software that makes all our results incredibly useful for finding and extracting natural resources. We are well-funded and growing rapidly and looking for amazing people to join our team.
We're a fast-growing well-funded company working on interesting products that are making difference to the world. Our products and services are helping find the hydrocarbons that power our world today, and the metals and minerals required for the energy transition of tomorrow.
What You’ll Do:
We are looking for an experienced Documentation Specialist to turn engineering knowledge, operational experience, quality requirements, and project decisions into clear, controlled, and usable documentation. This role sits across engineering, operations, QA/QC, training, and project execution. You will have AI documentation tools available to support your work and help you move faster.
This is not an entry-level role. We need someone who can hit the ground running — interviewing subject-matter experts, structuring complex information, and producing documentation that people actually use.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Operations & Technical Documentation
Write and maintain SOPs, work instructions, troubleshooting guides, equipment procedures, process maps, and handoff documentation. Work directly with subject-matter experts to capture informal knowledge in written, repeatable form.
Training & Onboarding
Build practical training packages, onboarding guides, competency checklists, and visual job aids that help people perform work correctly and consistently.
Quality & ISO Documentation
Develop and maintain ISO-aligned documentation including controlled procedures, revision histories, approval workflows, quality records, corrective action logs, and audit preparation materials. Keep documentation current, controlled, and audit-ready.
Project Coordination
Keep project information organized and visible, decision logs, action tracking, meeting notes, risk registers, milestone updates, and handoff packages. Ensure that decisions and follow-ups do not get lost between teams.
Document Control
Own how documentation is structured, stored, named, versioned, reviewed, and archived. Identify and address gaps, duplication, and outdated content across teams.
Must Have
- 3–5 years of experience in a technical documentation, quality, or operations role within an engineering, manufacturing, industrial, or field operations environment
- Practical experience with ISO 9001 or a similar quality management system, including document control, controlled procedures, and audit preparation
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to produce clear, well-structured documentation independently
- Demonstrated ability to extract technical knowledge from subject-matter experts and translate it into accurate, usable procedures
- Experience with document control practices including revision history, approval workflows, and document lifecycle management
- Comfortable using modern tools including AI documentation tools to support drafting, summarization, and consistency
- Familiar with platforms such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Confluence, Jira, or similar
Assets to Have
- Experience supporting engineering or operations project coordination
- Ability to create diagrams, process maps, and visual work instructions
- Familiarity with nonconformance, corrective action, or continuous improvement processes
