What Is The Opportunity?
Aecon is gearing up for new and upcoming civil projects in Calgary, and we’re expanding our team. What You’ll Do Here:- Provide Quality Systems support using the ISO 9001 standard as the basis for process development and optimization, procedure development, data collection and reporting, and Quality Systems training.
- Understand and interpret technical drawings for roadways, walls, and bridge structures.
- Conduct quality control inspections on earthworks, walls, bridges, and project structures.
- Confirm the installation of work is in accordance with project plans, specifications, and industry standards.
- Effectively document, follow up and close corrective actions—both internal and external.
- Promote safety awareness, adhere to safety rules and requirements, and participate in safety field audits and assessments as needed.
- Verify customers’ quality requirements are in compliance with quality standards and quality program requirements for products and services provided.
- Collaborate in developing and maintaining Quality Policy, Processes, Procedures, and related documents. Review Quality Manuals and implementation procedures to verify compliance with industry codes, standards, regulations, and regulatory commitments.
- Collaborate with management on the interface of Quality activities with internal or external organizations (customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and others).
- Review documents prepared by internal or external organizations such as quality manuals, procedures, technical deliverables, test plans, and material test reports.
- Perform material inspection on permanent material arriving at the site.
- Recognize non‑conformities and monitor that the disposition is carried out correctly.
- Perform other responsibilities as required.
- A combination of education and industry experience will be considered. Being certified in Alberta as a Certified Engineering Technologist is an asset.
- A minimum of 3 years of direct construction inspection experience on major highway and bridge construction projects.
- Internal or Lead Auditor certification (ISO 9001:2015) is preferred.
- ACI/CCIL certification preferred (current within 6 months of hire).
- Understanding of construction quality standards and processes.
- Driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Self‑directed, motivated team player who thrives in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite.
- Able to work long hours and night shift when required.
