ABOUT

THE ROLE

Reporting to the General Manager, this position works within the Quality Assurance/Quality Control department to optimize mix design and raw material costs, implement and manage quality procedures and policies, manage product development, and provide assistance to customers and sales representatives. The role leads a team of QA/QC technicians in the field and meets divisional quality goals, reducing quality incidents and associated costs while enhancing customer service.

WHAT

YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Administer, develop, implement, and standardize quality plans and processes for the Greater Edmonton / Northern Alberta Area following the WCan Quality Control Manual.
  • Lead and develop the regional Quality Assurance team.
  • Assess concrete mix designs to improve cement efficiencies and reduce total mix costs by reviewing field data and applying technical software.
  • Design and conduct laboratory experiments to quantify desired material properties for new niche products.
  • Represent Amrize in technical associations across Alberta and maintain communication with specification writers, engineering consultants, architects, government agencies, and customers.
  • Collaborate with the Cement Division on product quality and promotion of concrete.
  • Pre‑qualify construction materials, clarify specifications, and assist customers with bids on special projects.
  • Prepare and submit mix designs for various projects as required, ensuring compliance with CSA A23, A283, A3000, provincial, transportation, city specs, and ASTM standards.
  • Act as a safety leader, ensuring Amrize safety standards are applied and promoting a culture of safety.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Professional Technologist Designation.
  • Field of Study Preferred: Engineering.
  • Required

    Work Experience:

    3-5 years in a concrete or related industry.
  • Required Training/

    Certifications:

    Registered as a P. Eng. or P.Tech. ACI & CSA Concrete Testing Certification is an asset.
  • Required Technical

    Skills:

    Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, SAP.
  • Travel Requirements: 10%.
  • Technically sound in ready mix, concrete, cement, and aggregates.
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills.
  • Team player, strong communicator, capable of multi‑tasking.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Willingness to work long hours when required.
  • Safety‑oriented individual who adheres to all safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Must be clean‑shaven where respirator seals are needed to pass fit tests.
