Salary: $45,760.00 Annually
OverviewThe Quality Control Inspector reports to the Operations Manager. The role involves completing produce inspections, providing inspection details to the sales team, and supporting the ripening team. The position requires verifying the quality and condition of produce to determine if products meet CFIA/USDA standards and ensuring the quality and freshness of inbound and outbound shipments.
Location:
110 – 5675 58 Ave SE, Calgary, Alberta. Flexibility to work early mornings and weekends is required.
- Maintain and enforce Gambles’ quality specifications
- Perform and report quality assessments during live inbound receiving
- Follow up on items received and put-away but not yet quality checked
- Outbound quality control checks for select customers
- Fulfill quality-reporting requests (photos, weight, size, average counts, etc.)
- Review the cooler checklist daily to identify and report sub-par product for disposition
- Handle #2/rejection/return assessments, reporting, and related processes (transfers and RTS coordination)
- Coordinate third-party inspections
- Coordinate CFIA inspections as required
- Provide support and coverage to the Ripening team as needed
Qualifications and Personal Attributes:
- Post-secondary education in food science, natural science and/or agriculture
- Knowledge, prior experience, and familiarity with CFIA grading standards and produce specifications are an asset
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a warehouse environment
- Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Familiarity with use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Self-starter who identifies priorities and takes initiative
- Flexible and adaptable in an ever-changing environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
The following would be considered valuable assets:
- Knowledge of HACCP
- Knowledge of SQF
