HSE & Quality Assurance Advisor

Brunel is currently seeking an HSE & Quality Assurance Officer who will assist in the development and implementation of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) management system programs, requiring application of QHSE principles and concepts, to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions and environment. Advise, support and ensure that necessary steps are taken by concerned departments in maintaining safe working conditions in their respective areas.

The position shall report to our clients Country Manager and related personnel in Head Office. The candidate will work closely with our clients Joint Venture partners. The role requires a heavy emphasis on regular monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of HSE, Quality Assurance and Environmental, Social Governance (ESG) data collection and matrix analysis.

Responsibilities:
Area Office (AO) HSE Functions & Responsibilities
  • Ensure awareness of key objectives and end user guidelines and provisions of various quality and HSE standards currently in force and ensure compliance to AO policies and guidelines.
  • Assume full responsibility for performing QHSE related duties and roles as envisaged by QHSE policies and standards.
  • Ensure the overseeing of legal and corporate compliance in QHSE at the AO with government entities in coordination with HO.Ensure the implementation steps to achieve occupational health and hygiene objectives. Identifies health hazards associated with work activities and recommends solutions including ergonomics as applicable and liaises with designated local Hospital for periodic employee health checks.
  • Assists on Developing and implementation of HSE risk assessment and management system through the development of policies, conduct of risk assessment studies, identification of potential events and recommending risk prevention, reduction and response procedures.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, or any occupational health concerns facing AO staff and attempt to determine underlying causes and measures to either prevent or mitigate and manage such concerns.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations workplace processes and HSE principles in risk identification and mitigation.
  • Ensure effective communication of key HSE oriented messages reach all staff using appropriate means, including postmaster, portal, emails, workshops, as well as presentations.
  • Use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations and standards of the Company's HSE Program.
  • Observe and analyse information received from all relevant sources, including employee feedback through EHS Insight software to improve HSE at AO.
  • Assist AO management in handling emergency situations and provide support during crisis management
  • Coordinate with fire wardens on fire control matters and ensure fire control training is provided to them. Conduct evacuation drills on periodic intervals involving building management.
  • Conduct inspection of food in cafeteria and pantries if applicable.
  • Organize HSE events for AO staff and assists on designing and implementing various HSE initiatives.
  • Liaise with HR to ensure timely execution of mandatory and periodic health checks for staff.
Joint Venture HSE Functions & Responsibilities
  • To monitor and review safety statistics reports. accidents, incidents, injuries and near-misses from JV partners and participates in emergency drills, audits and investigations, and recommends appropriate actions to ensure alignment of joint operations safety
  • with the Company's Standards.
  • Maintain and update weekly and monthly HSE reports for AO and HO.
  • Analyse information from JV QHSE reports and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems related to QHSE and advise management accordingly.
  • Report and review findings from accident investigations or facilities inspections and HSE observations.
Quality Assurance Functions & Responsibilities
  • Provides established methods, procedures, and practices and follows QHSE codes as if applies to all Company areas to achieve objectives and recommends safety measures for work with dangerous / toxic chemicals and industrial activities. Advises on special safety equipment, practices for non-standard jobs and monitors conditions. Maintains and updates the Company's QHSE systems, procedures and standards.
  • Give recommendations in accordance with national and international QHSE Standards.
  • Responsible for developing, updating, and ensuring compliance with Business Process Maps and Document Management System.
  • Help KCI establish and achieve the International Organization for Standards (ISO) and associated certifications under the guidance of relevant head office departments.
  • Assists AO management by providing opinions on management systems or processes related to the Company's QHSE Program.
