Foothills Steel Foundry Ltd. is looking for a Quality Control Inspector / NDT Technician to join our Calgary manufacturing facility.
This is a hands-on shop-floor quality position with a broader scope than a traditional NDT role. The successful candidate will be involved throughout the manufacturing process, including materials receiving and verification, NDT, welding and fabrication inspection, dimensional inspection, material traceability, documentation, and final product inspection .
Our work includes custom steel castings, fabricated components, machined parts and wear products for the mining, oil & gas and heavy-industrial sectors.
This is a permanent, primarily Calgary-based position with a regular Monday-to-Friday daytime schedule —not a rotational, shutdown or camp position.
What You’ll Do Foothills Steel Foundry Ltd. is looking for a Quality Control Inspector / NDT Technician to join our Calgary manufacturing facility.

What You’ll Do Perform Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
Perform visual welding and fabrication inspections
Inspect incoming materials and products against purchase orders, drawings, specifications and applicable requirements
Verify material identification, quantities, documentation and traceability
Review material certificates and supporting documentation where required
Perform dimensional and visual inspections of manufactured and received components
Review drawings, welding symbols, WPSs, specifications and inspection requirements
Prepare NDT and QC inspection reports
Maintain material and product traceability throughout production
Support ITPs and customer inspection requirements
Identify and document non-conformances and assist with NCR follow-up
Coordinate inspection requirements with Production, Engineering and Quality
Support customer and third-party inspections
Maintain NDT equipment, calibration records and certification records
Assist with final QA/QC documentation packages and product release
Support other day-to-day Quality department activities as required
Required Qualifications CGSB MT Level 2
CGSB PT Level 2
CWB Welding Inspector Level 1 or higher
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols
Experience completing inspection and quality documentation
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Comfortable working directly with materials and components in an active manufacturing/shop environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Assets CWB Welding Inspector Level 2
Additional CGSB certifications, particularly UT Level 2
Experience with steel castings, machining, welded fabrication, piping or pressure equipment
Materials receiving and incoming inspection experience
Knowledge of material identification and traceability requirements
Familiarity with CSA, ASME and ASTM standards
Experience with ITPs, NCRs and QA/QC documentation packages
ISO 9001 quality-system experience
ABSA/pressure-equipment fabrication experience
What We Offer $75,000–$85,000 per year , based on experience and certifications
Full-time, permanent employment
Monday–Friday daytime schedule
Primarily Calgary-based work
