Description

The Werklund School of Education invites applications for a Research Coordinator. This Fixed Term Recurring Part‑time position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

The Research Coordinator will report to Dr. Sarah Elaine Eaton.

Dr. Sarah Elaine Eaton leads transdisciplinary research on ethics and integrity in educational contexts in the Werklund School of Education. The research includes multiple graduate students, national and international research collaborators. Our team conducts innovative research on ethics, academic and research integrity, fraud and corruption in educational contexts. We have specific projects related to the ethics of artificial intelligence and other advanced and emerging technologies.

We take a social justice approach to education, advocacy, and scholarship.

Summary of

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and coordinate various research projects, which may include grant writing, project management, expense claim management, interviewing research assistants, budgetary oversight, research analysis, and knowledge dissemination specific to study findings.
  • Be a key communicator with the public and support various forms of knowledge mobilization with the public, including public presentations, media inquiries, media and article creation, and other unique requests.
  • Be a part of mentorship teams for graduate students and generally a resource to all members of the research team.
  • Update and publish documents and resources for our research project websites.
  • Help schedule, facilitate, and maintain records for regular research team meetings.
  • Plan social events for research team members.
  • Make recommendations on projects, operations, presentations, or policy-related work carried out by the research team.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Graduate degree in Educational Research or a related field.
  • Graduate research experience related to ed tech, ethics, and integrity, and a desire to continue to understand research and best practices in the field is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in grant‑writing and long‑term project management.
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of administrative responsibilities related to research management including expense claims, travel planning, and event organization.
  • Excellent writing and copy‑editing skills.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Experience with University of Calgary systems and processes, including People Soft and RMS, is an asset.
  • Experience with federal funding agencies (e.g., SSHRC) is an asset.
