Job Description

The Department of Medicine in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Coordinator. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

The Reproductive Infectious Disease Program is a collaborative health initiative aimed at preventing infection-related maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. This collaboration brings together care providers and thought leaders from Obstetrics & Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Maternal‑Fetal Medicine and Community Health Sciences.

The program is currently involved in several research projects and hopes to grow into a multi‑faceted research program focused on reproductive infectious disease. We need to build capacity by exploring and developing innovative methodology to advance, improve and support applied person‑centered outcome research. We are seeking a Research Coordinator to become part of this emerging and innovative research program funded by CIHR, PHAC, CIRN and the Calgary Health Foundation.

This position reports to the Principal investigator and will have accountabilities from other senior team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Principal Investigator and Project Manager, Research and Stakeholder Engagement in the development of manuscripts, reports, and grant proposals relevant to the project, including conducting comprehensive literature searches, synthesizing evidence, and providing advanced editorial support
  • Support co‑design and knowledge dissemination activities
  • Work with the Project Manager, Research and Stakeholder Engagement to lead data collection, data cleaning, and data analysis
  • Maintain detailed and organized project documentation (both electronic and physical files), ensuring all materials are stored and managed in accordance with Access to Information under the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) standards set by the University of Calgary
  • Prepare presentations, summary tables, reports, slide decks, and related materials
  • Support Research Ethics Board applications, including drafting, revising, and coordinating submissions and amendments
  • Write comprehensive reports for the Funders that clearly communicate project progress, findings, and outcomes
  • Assist with manuscript preparation
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in health or social sciences; graduate degree an asset
  • Minimum of 3 years of qualitative research experience
  • Background in health education or health promotion is desirable
  • Experience with participatory and community engagement research, including working with advisory groups and newcomer communities
  • Familiarity with implementation science frameworks (TDF, CIFR, PRISM) and applied implementation methods is an asset
  • Experience conducting literature reviews and co‑designing health education and training materials for diverse audiences
  • Ability to translate scientific information for diverse audiences
  • Experience producing visual research outputs (presentations, infographics, social media content)
  • Knowledge of research ethics, policies, and granting agency requirements (e.g., Tri Council)
  • Strong academic writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Cultural awareness and ability to work effectively with diverse communities
  • High level of concentration, resourcefulness, and creativity required
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and NVivo
