The Department of Paediatrics in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Full‑time Fixed Term position is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
This position reports to the Implementation Specialist.
We are seeking a highly‑motivated Research Assistant (RA) to provide clinical research support to the Clinical Therapeutics Unit (CTU) at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. The CTU supports a wide range of Phase II‑IV clinical trials across multiple departments, including both industry-sponsored and investigator‑initiated studies.
This is an in‑person role based at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
Summary ofKey Responsibilities
- Patient screening and recruitment
- Manage and maintenance of study databases
- Coordination and/or supporting collection of laboratory samples
- Data collection (e.g., health data from medical records, questionnaires) and data entry
- Tracking of study visits, organization of visit materials and next protocol tasks for participants
- Maintenance of regulatory documents
- Maintenance of supplies and completion of supply tracking logs
- Adherence to study‑specific as well as site SOPs for day‑to‑day tasks as well as study procedures
- Manages own time effectively and ensures PI and collaborative team members are kept informed of activities and progress of work
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with research team members, immediate supervisors, senior management, and with the campus community
- Other related duties as assigned
- Master’s Degree preferred, or equivalent experience in pediatric research, clinical trials, and a health‑related field accepted
- Experience with Red Cap or other EDC systems required
- Experience with consent for study participants is an asset
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work independently, to multi‑task, and to coordinate work with others
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Research Assistant duties will include but are not limited to, inclusion/exclusion criteria review with PI, consent, study procedure support, survey completion and tracking, data entry, supply management and regulatory binder management
- TCPS2 certification required. GCP, Health Canada Division 5 certifications an asset
- Connect Care (EPIC) experience an asset
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to self‑motivate and take initiative
- Resourceful, energetic, self‑directed, creative
