Pursue a rewarding role as a Neuroscience Research Assistant in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the Cumming School of Medicine. This part-time position allows you to contribute to vital neuroscience research through technical laboratory support.
This fixed-term role lasts for approximately six months, with possible extensions based on grant funding. You will manage laboratory tasks like neuronal culture and animal handling, and support brain tissue processing essential for research progress. Collaborating closely with the Principal Investigator, your input will be invaluable to experimental designs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Execute animal husbandry and tissue collection per guidelines
• Establish and oversee neuronal cell cultures
• Implement brain sectioning and conduct immunostaining procedures
• Use fluorescence microscopy for image acquisition and analysis
• Maintain lab inventory, records, and a safe working environment
Requirements:
• BSc in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, or related area
• At least 2 years hands-on experience in relevant skills
• Proficiency in IHC/IF staining and brain sectioning
• WHMIS certification is mandatory
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
