Laboratory Technician – PVT Lab Summary

AGAT Laboratories is currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our PVT (Pressure Volume Temperature) Lab working out of our Calgary, Alberta facility. In this position the successful candidate will be a second‑level position in the laboratory, receiving direction from the Laboratory Manager and assisting with laboratory services.

• Perform PVT standard and advanced experiments including, but not limited to, single stage flash (SSF), gas oil ratio (GOR), constant composition expansion (CCE), differential liberation (DL), and viscosity measurements.
• Receive, prepare, and maintain reservoir fluid samples (oil, gas, condensate) following chain‑of‑custody and contamination‑control procedures.
• Operate high‑pressure PVT cells, high‑temperature PVT ovens, viscometers, pumps, and other PVT equipment.
• Regularly maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot essential laboratory equipment.
• Compile, verify and validate accurate data records.
• Prepare test summaries, data sheets, and technical reports for internal use.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Post‑secondary education with a Technical Diploma or Science Degree.
• 0-5 year’s laboratory work experience.
• Previous experience in an oil or PVT lab environment would be considered an asset.
• Intermediate computer skills with MS Office and LIMS.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks within a fast‑paced work environment.
• Hand‑eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Mature work ethic, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to lift 25+ pounds on a consistent basis.
