ROLE SUMMARY
The Jr. Lab Technician supports the development and provides technical expertise in the development of new products. The Jr. Lab Technician will receive guidance from,and execute tasks assigned by the Lab Manager to support these activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform laboratory tests toproduce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations.
Carryout routine tasks accurately and follow strict methodologies to carry outanalyses
Preparespecimens, reagents, and samples.
Perform standard quality control testing on incoming samples.
Maintain and operate laboratory instruments (e.g., pH meter, balances, UV-Visspectrophotometer).
Ensurethe laboratory is well-stocked and resourced.
Record,compile and sometimes interpret results to present to senior colleagues.
Cleanlaboratory glassware, equipment, and keep work areas clean and tidy.
Executetests according to standard operating procedures.
Fileand organize lab-related paperwork and electronic documents.
Performmathematical calculations and compose technical reports based on test results.
Followand ensure strict safety procedures and safety checks.
Setup and conduct chemical experiments.
Assistin the design and execution of sampling, experimental setups, and data analysis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1-5 years of experience in a chemical laboratory environment.
Diploma or degree in chemistry or adjacent engineering/bio-science.
Suitable technical writing skills.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
Ability to commission and maintain technical equipment including a core flood apparatus is required.
Mechanical aptitude is anasset.
Flexibility to work with and provide support for cross-functional teams.
Ability to build effective relationships and collaborate across departments.
Time management skills to keep ahead of administrative tasks in various areas.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word,Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook.
A collaborative individual who excels in a team environment.
Attention to detail.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Some travel may be required for this role.
Ability to lift up to 20 kg.
Ability to work shift work to cover 7-day workweeks.
Ability to work in an office and laboratory environment.
