Help operators and investors make smarter capital allocation decisions by combining unconventional resource expertise with advanced inventory modeling, economic analysis, and AI‑driven research across North America’s top shale plays.
Position OverviewAs an Inventory Research Analyst, you will leverage our proprietary undrilled inventory datasets, machine learning‑derived metrics, and advanced modeling capabilities to deliver deep insights into unconventional oil and gas asset potential. You will develop comprehensive inventory models that integrate geological assessments, type‑curve equivalent analytics, and economic fundamentals to evaluate drilling opportunities across key North American basins, with particular focus on Canadian assets such as the Montney and Duvernay formations.
Your analytical work will combine volumetric modeling and economic analysis to help operators and investors make informed capital allocation decisions.
- Inventory Modeling:
Develop and maintain detailed inventory models using Novi’s proprietary machine learning tools. Integrate geological data, production curves, and well spacing analysis to develop industry‑leading inventory models for all basins across North America, with a focus on Canada. - Economic Modeling:
Use and improve proprietary half‑cycle economic models to evaluate returns, incorporating production performance, drilling & completion costs, and commodity price scenarios. - Bespoke Research:
Synthesize proprietary datasets with Novi’s machine learning models to create bespoke written research. - Client Engagement:
Present findings, model updates, and research insights to a diverse range of clients, including operators and financial services firms, effectively communicating complex financial and operational concepts.
- Background in geology or engineering preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience for Analyst level; 5+ years for Senior Analyst.
- Experience in upstream E&P companies, reserves engineering, energy consulting, investment banking, or equity research with a focus on unconventional resources.
- Expertise in unconventional oil and gas (shale, tight oil, tight gas) with demonstrated knowledge of North American basins, particularly the Montney and Duvernay formations.
- Proficiency with inventory modeling, type curve analysis, reserve estimation, and/or well performance forecasting with a strong understanding of half‑cycle and full‑cycle economics for unconventional assets.
- Proficiency in financial and economic modeling (particularly Excel for multi‑scenario analysis), GIS experience (ArcGIS or equivalent), programming skills, and CFA designation or progress toward certification are assets but not required.
