Bakery Utility Clerk
The Bakery Utility Clerk is responsible for ensuring customer service is provided through maintaining a safe and efficient operation while adhering to Company policies, procedures and standards. The position reports directly to the Bakery Supervisor/Bakery Manager and includes the following responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Provides customer service and maintains positive customer relations through proper handling of questions, comments, requests, and complaints.
- Performs all aspects of the Bakery Utility function, including panning, operating bake‑off ovens, preparing bakery platter, icing cakes, facing, and stocking displays in an efficient and organized manner. Ensures display presentation and stock levels are maintained.
- Handles merchandise ensuring quality and minimizing damages and markdowns, provides substitutions, and maintains price integrity.
- Performs general clean‑up duties such as cleaning spills and display fixtures, and maintains neatness of the sales floor and back‑stock area, including removal of garbage.
- Follows established Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies to ensure the health and safety of all staff and customers.
- Ensures the proper care, use, and maintenance of equipment and tools; reports repair requirements to the Bakery Supervisor, Manager, or Duty Manager.
- Is responsible for all aspects of ordering merchandise and supplies.
- Is responsible for receiving, reviewing and verifying invoices, returns, transfers, claims, and proper storage of products.
- Assists in organizing and conducting inventory.
Skills and Abilities
- Minimum education:
Grade 9 or acceptable combination of education and experience. - Fluent in English.

- Bakery retail or related retail experience.
- Bakery product knowledge or experience.
