Whitehorse Corrections Officer 1 Position

Step into a critical role as Corrections Officer 1 at the Whitehorse Corrections Centre, where you will help support inmate rehabilitation within a secure environment. This full-time role involves operational oversight and inmate interaction.

Working with the Government of Yukon, you will be responsible for maintaining security and providing guidance to inmates. This position requires collaboration within a dynamic team focused on supporting inmates through respectful interactions and programming. You will also work on various shifts, including weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the safety and security of inmates

• Facilitate inmate orientation and support

• Guide inmates in achieving personal development

• Participate actively in a team-oriented environment

• Operate on a rotating shift basis

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required

• Completion of Correctional Officer Basic Training

• Experience supervising in a correctional setting

• Certification in Use of Force necessary

• Valid Security Clearance prior to employment
