Assisted Living and Social Services provides supports for seniors, families, and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, financial supports, services for the homeless, Continuing Care and other social-based programs. The Ministry supports Albertans through a person-centered, integrated service delivery model that recognizes the unique circumstances, experiences and strengths of individuals and families.

Disability Services (DS) provides case management, issues payments, manages contracts of many types and connects with Alberta Supports in relation to overlapping processes (e.g., intake). The organization addresses supports and services mandated under the Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) and Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) Acts and Regulations to over 12,000 individuals, children and families in the province. The primary purpose of this position is to support the day-to-day casework, policy and/or administrative activities associated with PDD and FSCD.

This positing will be used to hire for two separate positions, when applying, please indicate which position you are applying to:

1.
Program support (PS1): requires basic knowledge of existing Disability Services (DS) legislation, regulations, policies and procedures. Tasks assigned to the program support position augment caseworker functions allowing Caseworkers to focus on individuals and families who most urgently require planning, response and DS funding to access services.

2.
Administrative support (AS2): encompasses a broad range of jobs involved in providing entry-level administrative, program and office support functions. The work assigned can be fulfilled by individuals with limited to no experience or program knowledge. The emphasis is on learning about the program areas, policies and regulations.

Whether you are completing a certificate program or a doctorate program, we have a variety of opportunities that could be the perfect match for your career development and personal growth!

Competencies are behaviors that are essential to reach our goals in serving Albertans. We encourage you to have an in depth understanding of the competencies that are required for this opportunity and be prepared to demonstrate them during the recruitment process.
