The Program

Bedford House is a community-based residential facility (CRF) that provides housing, ongoing counselling, support and connections to appropriate community services to men who are on federal conditional release. Staffed 24 hours a day, Bedford House is apartment-style living.

The Position

The Overnight Support Worker is responsible for: supervising residents and the facility in accordance with written policy; performing all general shift duties; maintaining strong written/verbal communication; maintaining a flexible approach in meeting the needs of the residents while maintaining the safety of the community; and being prepared and physically able to deal with routine/crisis situations. The shifts are awake overnights, 9:00 p.m.

- 7:00 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (40 hours/week).

The Overnight Support Worker must have strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team setting; some post-secondary education or equivalent experience working within the criminal justice system; good verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving and decision‑making skills; the ability to set and maintain professional boundaries; and knowledge regarding trauma‑informed care. A current criminal record check (CPIC) is required.

Brain Story Certification considered an asset.
