Part-Time Shelter Worker

Join Calgary Women’s Shelter as a Housing Focused Shelter Worker. Help women navigate challenges and access resources for safe and sustainable housing solutions.

In this part-time position with The Mustard Seed, you will work on the front line with marginalized individuals.

Your role emphasizes crisis management, case support, and promoting dignity among shelter guests. Engage in daily operations while maintaining a clean and safe environment as you support individuals in their housing journeys.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent service to shelter participants

• Address critical situations using de-escalation techniques

• Assist guests with short- and long-term housing goals

• Conduct security checks and supervise activities

• Support meal programs and janitorial duties

Requirements:

• At least 1 year of experience working with disadvantaged populations

• Proven conflict resolution and communication abilities

• Experience in advocacy is preferred

• Must display resilience and professionalism under pressure

• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality
