SENIOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR MANHATTAN PLACE GROUP HOME
Permanent Full Time – 40 hours/week, Internal/External.

Manhattan Place is a community‑based group home for youth aged 12‑17 referred through Children’s Services. It provides a safe, stable living environment with individualized support and 24‑hour care, while helping youth strengthen relationships with family, friends, and the community.
SCHEDULE3:00 pm – 11:00 pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Uphold a duty of care that prioritizes trauma‑informed principles for children and youth who have experienced significant trauma.
- Recognize and respond to trauma‑related behaviours with sensitivity, emphasizing safety, cultural connectedness, and relationship development.
- Take lead on each shift to ensure all responsibilities are completed.
- Accompany and/or transport youth to appointments, shopping, school, employment, leisure activities, or other required outings.
- Support youth development through role modeling, teaching new skills, and coaching DBT strategies to strengthen coping.
- Implement verbal crisis intervention skills to support de‑escalation.
- Provide support to staff through role modeling, coaching day‑to‑day responsibilities, interventions, communication, and documentation, building staff competency.
- Act as the primary liaison for Manhattan in all youth communication, organize case conferences, and support the wraparound process.
- Facilitate regular wraparound meetings, safety planning, and engage family and natural supports for up to three youth.
- Collaborate with the program Clinician, Indigenous Learning and Engagement Specialist, or other cultural representatives to develop strategies that help youth explore identity and cultural connections.
- Champion organizational and program change initiatives that maintain a positive work environment.
- Support the Supervisor and program with day‑to‑day operations such as scheduling, petty cash, occupational health & safety, medication delivery, and critical incident debrief, as discussed with the Supervisor and Manager.
- Diploma or Degree in Human Services.
- 2–5 years of experience working with youth with complex needs in a group care setting.
- Knowledge of Natural Supports and Trauma‑Informed Practice Frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate relationships and connections that expand youth networks and foster new meaningful relationships.
- Strong crisis intervention, conflict resolution, critical thinking, problem‑solving, and written & verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of how trauma, grief, and loss impact identity and connections with natural supports.
- Understanding of expectations, principles, and philosophy around transition planning.
- Availability to attend at least two staff meetings per month, even if outside regular hours.
- Current First Aid Certification and Suicide Intervention Training.
- Valid driver’s licence and adequate insurance coverage (minimum third‑party liability of $2 million).
- Minimum 3 years of driving experience with a Class 5 licence.
- Current Police and Child Intervention checks within the last 6 months.

Salary Range: $57,384 – $63,761 per year.
