Salary: $42,325.00/year - $47,028.00/year

What qualifications are we looking for?

At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Experience in strength‑based program planning for Indigenous children and youth
  • Diploma, certificate in Social Work or 2 years’ experience in working with Indigenous peoples and communities
  • Demonstrated community‑building skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous history and worldview
  • Experience with Indigenous cultures, protocols and dynamics of working within the urban and rural Indigenous communities
  • Demonstrated partnership and community building skills
  • Skilled at working independently and within a team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi‑task
  • Reliable transportation as travel between sites is required
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR‑C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations:
    Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John’s Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Three professional references
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

Duties and

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and implement the delivery of the new curriculum and to meet the needs of Indigenous high school‑aged youth ensuring educational, cultural and social goals are met
  • Ensure the safety and well‑being of participants at all times
  • Cultural knowledge and experience working with Elders and Cultural Advisors
  • Maintain positive relationships with school staff
  • Program planning and curriculum enhancement
  • Manage a food and supply budget
  • Collaboratively plan and organize department initiatives
  • Administrative duties including program statistics, data entry, impact stories and month‑end/annual reporting
  • Promote cross‑cultural understanding and inclusive spirit among program participants, schools and colleagues
  • Other department or association duties as required
  • Duty Manager shift within respected branch
