Rural Community Outreach Worker for TFW - Drumheller, Hannah and Newell County (Part-time | 20 hours per week)

CCIS (Calgary Catholic Immigration Society) is a nonprofit organization that provides settlement and integration services to all immigrants and refugees in Southern Alberta. Since our inception in 1981, we have been a community leader with solid experience in designing and delivering comprehensive services for our newest neighbors. We deliver these services through a dynamic, multi-cultural, multi-denominational and multi-disciplinary team of professionals who collectively speak over 80 languages.

From airport reception to a first job interview, CCIS’s programs and services have been designed to assist immigrants and refugees through all phases of the settlement and integration process. CCIS – Business, Employment and Training Services (BETS) Division

Obtaining sustainable employment is a primary goal for the majority of the clients/students who attend the programs and utilize the services delivered by our BETS division. Our aim is to deliver programs that prepare individuals for economic independence within the realities of today’s Canadian workplace. Our experienced and knowledgeable BETS staff and volunteers achieve excellence by designing and delivering many practical employment and training initiatives.

Job Summary

Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS) is looking for a Rural Community Worker for Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) who would be responsible for facilitating the settlement, integration and well‑being of migrant workers and their families in Drumheller, Hannah and the County of Newell. Duties include providing support services, advocating for their rights, delivering group information sessions, and building connections between TFWs and the community.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Design an outreach plan, organize and participate in community events and activities to connect with TFWs and employers to promote social inclusion in Drumheller, Hannah and the County of Newell.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local organizations and businesses to enhance the network of support for TFWs.
  • Conduct intake and needs assessments to identify client needs; and develop a customized action plan to support clients.
  • Provide relevant services, including information sessions (about rights and responsibilities), settlement support, system navigation, referrals and emergency support.
  • Transcribe and enter client information into the database for accurate record‑keeping, administering client feedback surveys, and submitting regular reports on program activities and deliverables.
  • Support CCIS staff from the rural communities where the TFW program operates to reach goals and objectives.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or similar field is an asset. A post‑secondary degree and/or Diploma in Social Work, Human Services, Social Sciences, Education, or a related field is preferred.
  • Understanding of the rural context and the unique challenges and opportunities associated with working in rural areas.
  • Previous experience working with newcomer populations, especially Temporary Foreign Workers, considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of community programs, services, and government resources from the federal and provincial governments.
  • Experience in workshop facilitation and presentation skills, time management and interpersonal skills. Professional standards to work in a team or individually.
  • Positive attitude to work with migrant population and service providers, be constructive, proactive, and manage conflict resolution.
  • Must have strong organisational skills and possess the ability to perform duties independently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • The ability to communicate in an additional language(s) is considered an asset, with preference to Spanish.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs are required.
  • This work may require working weekends or evenings

Specific requirements:

  • Current valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (writing and speaking).
  • Must be legally authorised to work in Canada
