Overview

The Employment and Financial Empowerment Specialist will support participants with financial coaching, benefits navigation, and empowerment group sessions, ensuring trauma‑informed, client‑centered service delivery.
Responsibilities
One‑On‑One Financial
Coaching:
support participants to set personal financial goals, develop budgeting and money management skills, explore savings strategies, create plans for reducing debt, and use visual aids or simplified tools to support comprehension.
Benefits Navigation for Persons with Disabilities: provide step‑by‑step support for navigating financial benefits related to disability, including the Disability Tax Credit, Canada Disability Benefit, and Registered Disability Savings Plan, and assist with benefit activation and continuity when circumstances change.
Financial Empowerment Group Sessions: deliver workshops for individuals identified as low income or experiencing financial stress, focusing on financial planning, foundational budgeting concepts, and practical financial management tools.
Educate other Program Staff about the program.
Administrative work and meetings with Team Lead.
Qualifications
Completion of post‑secondary education, Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma, preferably in a related field such as Human Services, Disability, or Financial Planning. A combination of education and equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Minimum of one year experience working with people with disabilities.
Advanced workshop facilitation skills to groups of varying sizes.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate and build relationships across diverse groups.
Empathetic, enthusiastic, and driven to contribute to inclusive and creative environments.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in team settings.
Additional Requirements
All employees must pass a background check.
