THE ROLEMcMan has an exciting opportunity for an experienced CLINICIAN
to join our Recovery Hub team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about mental health, dedicated to their own personal growth, thrives on connecting with others and has fun delivering mental health support in creative ways.
The Clinician provides onsite therapeutic services within the Recovery Hub’s integrated, neighbourhood‑based model. This role delivers individual counselling, DBT‑informed group programming, and recovery‑oriented intervention for youth (16+) and adults. The Clinician works closely with the Recovery Navigator, peer supports, and cultural practitioners to offer coordinated, accessible care that strengthens emotional regulation, coping skills, and long‑term housing stability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- From a recovery lens, provide clinical support through direct and indirect modes of practices including individual therapy, and DBT informed group programming.
- Embed recovery‑focused principles into DBT group delivery, tailoring content, pacing, and skill practice to support participants’ addiction recovery, resilience building, and long‑term stabilization.
- Facilitate ongoing recovery focused DBT informed groups.
- Work collaboratively with the Recovery Navigator to support client goal attainment and crisis support.
- Collaborate with the University of Calgary on program evaluation activities by providing data, insights, and feedback to support continuous improvement and evidence‑based outcomes.
- Reflect and integrate McMan’s service delivery model which encompasses Trauma Informed Practice, Natural Supports Framework, and a Relational Approach in clinical practice and modality.
- Provide counselling support delivery through a culturally sensitive and inclusive lens.
- Respond and report emergency and crisis situations following appropriate procedures, ensuring the safety and security of self and clients.
- Manage workload, multiple priorities and administrative responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Reflect and demonstrate the organizations vision, mission and goals in your work.
- Represent the organization in a professional manner.
- Complete and maintain all professional standards and trainings related to the position.
- Understand and act in accordance with the legislation, policies, standards and procedures of the program and organization.
- Establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with colleagues across all agency programs, as well as external stakeholders to foster consistency and collaboration of services.
- Develop an understanding of all agency programs and how clinical needs and services can exist within each.
- Ensure accuracy, confidentiality and safekeeping of records
- Master’s level degree in Clinical Psychology, Counselling, or Social Work (registration with a professional regulated body is expected)
- A strong understanding of DBT Framework and skill based interventions required
- DBT Skills Training certification preferred
- Current standard First Aid Certification
- Suicide Intervention Awareness Training
- Valid Driver’s license and a reliable vehicle with adequate auto insurance ($2M + 3rd party liability)
