The Architecture team at Nutrien Digital provides technical leadership, enabling development teams to build data‑driven applications that advance Nutrien's business goals.

Position Summary

This Sr. Principal Software Architect position is responsible for an AWS‑based integration platform. You will work directly with Nutrien teams as well as technical teams at our external partners. Your primary focus is to specify, design, and oversee the implementation of our integration architecture. Additionally, you will monitor and assess the work of several development teams’ compliance with our architectural standards.

What you will do:

• Design and help build Nutrien’s data and integration platform
• Train and mentor other technical staff, including other architects and engineering teams
• Present at meetings to both technical and non‑technical audiences
• Monitor in‑flight development efforts to ensure compliance with architectural standards
• Shape our technology strategy through defining architecture, applying relevant patterns, introducing new software solutions, and identifying areas of growth for the organization
• Design resilient infrastructure solutions that achieve confidentiality, integrity, and availability
• Design effective software patterns that are observable, extensible, and maintainable
• Develop documentation, architecture diagrams, and training assets to socialize our platform strategy throughout the organization

What you will bring:

• 10+ years of software development and data engineering experience in a cloud‑native environment
• Experience working as an architect in a large organization
• Experience on projects that span multiple organizations and business units, including directly coordinating interfaces and integrations with external architecture groups
• Expertise with event‑based architectures and tools such as Kafka
• Expertise with AWS serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda
• Competency with various database and analytics technologies such as Dynamo
  
  DB, RDS, and Red Shift
• Competency with Infrastructure as Code such as CDK and/or Terraform
• Competency with Python a plus
• Experience with React Native a plus
• Ability to recommend platform‑level optimizations based on system performance metrics
• Strong writing skills to create technical documentation such as SDKs, specifications, and training materials
• Experience integrating with SAP technologies such as R4 HANA and BTP a plus
