Shift Lead, Snow School & Freestyle
At Win Sport, we’re seeking passionate individuals committed to sharing their love for the sport of skiing and snowboarding. This role supports and leads a team of instructors delivering high‑quality, tailor‑made lessons to our guests, contributing to their skill development and passion for winter sports.
Key Responsibilities- Lead instructors and coaches to deliver exceptional care of participants in and out of lessons.
- Support team members in fulfilling their role, manage performance, and provide meaningful feedback.
- Ensure efficient check‑in and check‑out operations and smooth lesson launches.
- Communicate with guests to address concerns in person, by phone, or via email, coordinating group level swaps to maintain quality experiences.
- Model a safety culture and inspire a safety mindset within the team.
- Collaborate with Team Leads and Management to develop and execute training.
- Lead formal and informal performance check‑ins and manage performance conversations.
- Serve as a role model, inspiring instructor engagement and high‑quality lessons.
- Address concerns or feedback in a timely manner and provide appropriate solutions.
- Inspire a safety culture among team members.
- Provide exceptional customer service and guest‑focused experiences.
- Teach and inspire guests and instructors to connect with the sport of skiing and snowboarding.
- Coordinate participant level changes and support instructors’ coaching conversations.
- Assist in Snow School set‑up and take‑down, rental shop support, lesson check‑ins and check‑outs, waiver confirmations, and group organization.
- Support team members in delivering the safest and highest‑quality lessons.
- Communicate with guests and team members in alignment with Win Sport’s core values of safety, welcoming, inspiring, and creative.
- Foster an inclusive atmosphere for guests of all ages and abilities.
- Role‑model effective coaching and feedback through clear, concise, and intentional communication.
- Maintain professional communication with guests and navigate lesson concerns with a positive, constructive approach.
- Ensure guests receive meaningful lesson feedback reflecting Win Sport values.
- Coordinate Snow School area set‑up, guest check‑in, check‑out, and take‑down.
- Manage staff arrival and departure to ensure efficient labor management.
- Maintain accurate records of staff schedules and staffing changes.
- Collaborate with management to accommodate escalated guest needs with a problem‑solving mindset.
- Work with instructors to ensure successful execution of programs and uphold quality and safety standards.
- Demonstrate proactive problem‑solving and adaptability to meet diverse needs.
- Plan and lead or support instructor training sessions centered on instructional topics.
- Identify and mitigate hazards, uphold the Alpine Responsibility Code, and ensure compliance with all safety policies.
- Ensure team members safely execute lessons tailored to guests’ needs and progression.
- Lead daily team huddles providing updates and training.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of ski/snowboard products to assist guests.
- Communicate Win Sport policies accurately and ensure they are applied.
- Support policy audits to maintain high standards.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Current Level 1, 2, 3, or 4 certification with CSIA/CASI/PSIC or equivalent.
- Current Fundamentals, Comp‑Intro, or other freestyle certification.
- Dual Ski/Snowboard certification and Freestyle/Park certification considered assets.
- 3 years of leadership experience in a related or other field.
- 5 years of experience working with youth and adult programs.
- Strong communication skills and a positive, coachable attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fluency in other languages considered an asset.
- Excellent organization, multi‑tasking, and prioritizing skills.
- Strong decision‑making and pedagogy/mentoring skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Experience with a large and diverse team considered an asset.
- Conflict resolution experience is an asset.
- Industry knowledge of Ski/Snowboard considered an asset.
