Role Summary The Supervisor leads a fast‑paced operation, ensuring freight moves accurately and on time through the dock. You guide a team, coordinate workloads, and keep processes running smoothly to deliver top‑tier service. With real‑time problem solving, resource planning, and focus on leadership, this role makes a direct impact on operational efficiency and the customer experience. Work Location:
1144054th StSE, Calgary, AB, – Dock environment.
Key Accountabilities Supervise the overall operations on the cross dock and offload/load processes, procedures and people.
Maintain and execute the daily work plan to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of inbound/outbound load execution.
Maintain scheduling, discipline and performance management for employees in the unloading/loading process.
Create and change dock workers schedules as dictated by demand and performance.
Continually monitor workloads throughout the department and actively pursue additional resources when justified.
Monitor personnel and/or equipment locations and utilization to coordinate service and schedules.
Create initiatives and procedures that maximize organizational ability to service clients with the most efficiency possible.
Breakdown, verify and process workers activity logs.
Maintain and update the departmental communication log.
Generally maintain an open and effective dialogue with all workers to ensure fairness and clarity of understanding.
Create and maintain logs that are necessary to perform quick checks and assessments to ensure the highest quality.
Respond to complaints with thoroughness and accuracy.
Adhere to corporate and departmental policies and procedures.
Ensure all workers have the required training through Carriers Edge (Manager/Supervisor Training Program).
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications Management level experience of team leadership preferred.
Previous experience in warehouse/LTL setting is considered an asset.
Transportation industry knowledge and experience (shipping/receiving, scheduling, freight negotiations and regulatory requirements) an asset.
Skills & Attributes Computer skills – Outlook, Excel, Word.
Clean criminal record.
Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Flexible, able to deal with change.
Strong attention to detail.
Very organized, with excellent multi‑tasking and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent customer service/communication skills.
Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
