Driver I​/II; -Ton Truck Driver

THL Gourmet Foods Inc. is one of the leading importers and distributors of Asian food products from the Pacific Rim and other regions of the world. To fulfill our operational needs, we are currently recruiting a driver to make local deliveries for our AB division.

We are looking for a reliable and safety-minded Full-Time Driver to support our AB operations.

In this role, you’ll deliver products to restaurants and grocery stores and other customer locations throughout Calgary and surrounding areas, with occasional day trips to Edmonton. No overnight routes are normally required.

This opportunity is well suited to someone who enjoys driving, staying active throughout the workday, interacting with customers, and working as part of a supportive operations team.

• Safely operate a 5-ton straight truck in accordance with Company procedures and applicable transportation and road-safety requirements.
• Complete scheduled deliveries to restaurants, grocery stores, and other customer locations throughout Calgary and surrounding areas.
• Complete occasional same-day delivery trips to Edmonton as assigned.
• Load and unload products safely and efficiently according to the assigned delivery schedule.
• Perform regular manual unloading, including hand-bombing products and repeatedly lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Operate delivery equipment such as lift gates, electric power jacks, and hand pump jacks, where available.
• Verify delivered products against invoices and delivery documents to help prevent discrepancies.
• Obtain customer confirmations or signatures and complete required delivery records.
• Collect cash or cheque payments for COD orders when required and follow established handling procedures.
• Provide professional, courteous, and dependable service at each customer location.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance, equipment, or safety concerns.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delivery status, delays, customer concerns, or changes to the assigned route.
• Work collaboratively with the Dispatch, Warehouse, and Maintenance team and other team members to support safe and efficient operations.
• Perform other related duties reasonably associated with the position.

• A valid AB Class 5 Driver’s Licence
• A satisfactory driver’s abstract and driving record acceptable to the Company and its insurer.
• The appropriate licence and endorsement required for the assigned vehicle
• Previous delivery-driving or commercial-driving experience is preferred; however, training may be provided to a suitable candidate.
• Experience operating a 5-ton straight truck is preferred, or the ability and willingness to learn.
• Ability to safely perform the essential physical duties of the position, including regular manual unloading and repeatedly lifting and moving products weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to communicate in English sufficiently to understand safety instructions, communicate with customers and team members, and complete required delivery documentation.
• Dependable, punctual, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively with limited supervision while on route.
• Strong customer-service and teamwork skills.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.

The following experience would be helpful but is not required:

• Previous experience operating a 5-ton truck.
• Experience using lift gates, electric power jacks, or hand pump jacks.
• Food-service, grocery, retail, or multi-stop delivery experience.
• Experience handling invoices, customer signatures, or COD payments.
• Experience completing commercial vehicle inspections and delivery documentation.
