Support heavy-duty technicians at Manitoulin Transport by cleaning equipment, managing parts, and maintaining safe, organized shop operations.
This Shop Assistant position supports technicians in a hands-on heavy-duty truck environment. You will handle vehicle cleaning, shop organization, parts management, basic mechanical tasks, and safety practices. The work includes truck shunting, inventory support, outdoor maintenance, and supervised repairs.
Key Responsibilities:- Wash, degrease, polish, and prepare trucks for inspection
- Shunt trucks safely in and out of the shop
- Sweep, pressure wash, and dispose of shop waste
- Receive shipments, organize parts, and restock consumables
- Complete supervised fluid checks, light replacement, and adjustments
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required
- Class 1 or 3 Driver’s License is an asset
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and heavy-duty maintenance interest
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
