Prater Ford is seeking an experienced A- or B-Level Automotive Technician to support its growing service operation in the Calhoun, GA area.
This position pays $30-$45+ based on experience, skill level, and certifications, with weekly pay and a Monday-Friday schedule with no weekends.
The role primarily services Ford vehicles using Ford IDS/FDRS diagnostic equipment, with dealership technical support available while working in the field.
Prater Ford is family-owned and operated and is looking for a technician who can work independently while delivering professional service.

• Perform automotive diagnostics, service, and repairs according to assigned repair orders.
• Perform diagnostics and repairs efficiently and in accordance with Ford guidelines.
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems, vehicle computer modules, engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, and brake systems.
• Diagnose and repair air conditioning and climate control systems.
• Perform vehicle programming and recall-related work.
• Use Ford IDS/FDRS diagnostic equipment and follow Ford workshop manuals and repair procedures.
• Work independently away from the dealership while communicating with the shop for technical support when needed.
• Provide professional service while representing the dealership in the field.

• Minimum 3 years of professional automotive technician experience.
• A- or B-Level automotive technician capabilities with strong mechanical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
• Previous professional dealership and/or independent repair shop experience is required; previous Ford dealership experience is preferred.
• Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment and work with diagnostic computers.
• Experience with vehicle programming and workshop manuals.
• Candidate must have their own basic tools.
• Positive, professional attitude and an eagerness to improve; ASE certifications, diesel capabilities, strong electrical and diagnostic skills, and previous mobile or field experience are preferred.

Prater Ford is expanding its pickup, delivery, and mobile service operations, creating an opportunity for an experienced technician who enjoys working outside a traditional service bay. Technicians have the independence to handle repairs and make decisions in the field while still having dealership support available by phone.

The position primarily works with Ford vehicles and provides access to Ford IDS/FDRS diagnostic equipment. Ford experience is helpful but not required, and ASE certifications, diesel capabilities, programming experience, and strong electrical and diagnostic skills are valued.
