Job Summary: The Project Manager supports the private client book of business with planning, technical solutions, safety and operational excellence. They are the lead estimator and project manager on key projects within the region and support the Area Manager or Operations Manager.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Experience
  • 7+ years' experience in heavy civil, mechanical, marine, or underwater construction industries.
  • Experience in and advanced knowledge of construction contracts, including general and special terms and conditions.
  • Experience with claims management and dispute resolution.
  • Experience with Design-Build, EPC, ECI, CMAR, and other alternate procurement.
Skills
  • Proficient in HCSS Heavy Bid and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Capable of leading and contributing to opportunity pursuits and developing the right internal team to provide technical solutions.
  • Formulation of technical proposals, including means and methods, schedules, and pricing.
  • Advanced construction software operating capabilities and excellent technical writing and verbal skills.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate specifications to plan procedures, start/completion times, submittal requirements, and staffing for each phase of construction.
  • Direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating phases to prevent delays.
  • Resolve workforce complaints and grievances with supervisory personnel and labor representatives.
  • Collaborate with management, engineering, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve construction problems and improve methods.
  • Investigate problems and incidents; identify and recommend solutions.
  • Identify project risks and recommend mitigation measures; maintain a project risk register.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure workmanship meets specifications and schedules.
  • Follow health, safety, and environmental rules and promote safe project execution.
  • Manage changes in scope, schedule and costs with verification techniques.
  • Maintain and measure project schedule; coordinate activities and resolve problems.
  • Control project costs by approving expenditures and administering subcontractor contracts.
  • Review design, specifications, and plan/schedule changes; recommend actions.
  • Negotiate terms, draft contracts, obtain permits and licenses; understand estimates and negotiate change orders.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and approve invoicing per contract.
  • Create and submit reports (Management of Cost to Complete, Management of Work in Progress, daily reports) and prepare status summaries with trends and actions.
  • Project may involve managing multiple small projects regionally or one larger on-site project.
  • Oversee field engineers, project engineers, general foreman, and superintendents.
