DURATION: January 15 - April 15, 2027 (3 months with possibility for extension)
Mentorship is provided by previous team
- Have 10+ years experience in catalogue and/or publication design and production (with samples)
- Have print and digital advertising design and production experience (with samples)
- Be proficient using Adobe InDesign to set up and produce all printed and digital products
- Be able to batch process images in Photoshop and revise maps using Adobe Illustrator
- Have experience using Adobe Acrobat Pro to make print-ready PDFs and digital-ready files for publication
- Have your own equipment and software
- Work remotely, but ideally be in or near the Marin County area
- Be extremely organized and able to multitask, meet deadlines and interact with a team of administrators and participating artists
- Mac OS 12.7 or above
- Adobe Suite of tools:
- InDesign - for print & digital document production
- Photoshop - for photo editing, batch processing, map production
- Illustrator - for map production
- Acrobat Pro - for PDF creation, editing, map production files
- Must be able to edit Google spreadsheets
Beginning Jan. 15
TOUR GUIDE for ANNUAL EVENT:
Produce 52-page Tour Guide using InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro. Includes 260+ artists’ artwork images and info, plus editorial pages and advertising. Deadline for all print production approximately March 21. Printing by local magazine for insert in May issue. Review and approve all pages for final printing.
TOUR GUIDE COVER:
Identify and design cover for Tour Guide based on participating artworks. Develop concept for 3-5 design options for Board final review and decision. This design will be replicated in all visual communications for the Open Studios season Jan-May.
MAPS:
Create maps showing location of the participants’ studios to be used in the Tour Guide.
ADVERTISING:
Advertising design and production begins in February for long lead print. Design and produce 30-35 print and digital ads of varying sizes for publication in local media. Coordinate with advertising/media partners to provide customized ads per their deadlines. Advertising runs as needed throughout the year with the large majority in April and early May.
OTHER COLLATERAL:
Manage design and/or print production for Marin Open Studios and gallery events, including posters, signage, postcards, primary website image and other collateral materials.
