Position SummaryJoin our dedicated team as a Lunch Monitor, playing a critical role in fostering a safe, joyful, and productive atmosphere during our students' most valuable social time. This position is central to the positive behavior management and community culture of our school, ensuring smooth transitions and nurturing healthy peer interactions in both the dining hall and on the playground. You will be a key adult presence, providing encouragement, conflict resolution, and immediate assistance under the guidance of school administration.
PrimaryJob Responsibilities
- Be present on campus and ready to supervise from 10:50 AM until all students have concluded lunch and recess.
- Actively circulate through designated areas (cafeteria and playground) to maintain a safe, welcoming, and orderly environment, using proactive strategies to guide student behavior.
- Encourage children to use problem‑solving skills and provide direct, positive support during peer conflicts, helping students develop essential social‑emotional skills.
- Efficiently manage the organized arrival, service, and dismissal of students from the dining hall, ensuring a respectful and timely lunch period.
- Anticipate student needs, greet children warmly, and ensure all students understand and adhere to the school's high behavioral expectations.
- Maintain continuous communication with and follow the leadership of the administrator on duty, quickly informing them of any serious behavioral issues, injuries, or accidents.
- Other duties as assigned
- High school diploma required; college experience or degree in a related field is a significant plus.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and calmly with both elementary‑aged children and professional staff.
- Prior experience in youth development, coaching, childcare, or education (preferred).
- A flexible, positive, reliable team player with predictable attendance who is open to embracing school procedures and culture.
This is a part-time position, reporting to the Assistant Head of Lower School.
- Hours:
10:50 AM to 1:20 PM, Monday–Friday - Highly competitive rate of $15.50 - $17.50 per hour, based on experience.
