The Associate, Solar Technician monitors solar & energy storage farms’ availability and ensures mechanical and electrical maintenance is performed to maintain safety and operational targets. This role involves executing daily schedules, prioritizing work based on planning, to maximize energy generation and ensure timely completion of tasks.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV & battery storage electrical equipment.
  • Perform maintenance safely according to site procedures.
  • Complete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Permit to Work, and documentation required for safe maintenance.
  • Identify and suggest improvements to processes and procedures.
  • Collect data and prepare reports as required.
  • Perform work on balance of plant and switchyard components.
  • Maintain BESS, trackers, inverters, and other electrical equipment.
  • Supervise maintenance contractors and ensure corrective actions.
  • Take current and voltage readings as needed.
  • Document work and generate reports.
  • Identify safety gaps and risks.
  • Assist with Balance of Plant (BOP) activities when needed.
  • Use tools to monitor energy output and respond to emergencies.
  • Ensure site access, safety, security, deliveries, and inspections follow protocols.
  • Coordinate with third-party contractors.
  • Respond to non-traditional hours for maintenance and emergencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements and Experiences:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in engineering or related science preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in power generation operations and maintenance, preferably in renewable energy.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Willing to relocate within 1 hour of the site.
  • Skills in power plant operations, electrical/mechanical maintenance, or substation work.
  • Experience with hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental policies.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently or in a team.
  • Proficiency with computers and office equipment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Availability for night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
  • Complete required training satisfactorily.
  • First aid/CPR/AED certified.
  • OSHA certification.
  • This role involves both fieldwork and office work, with travel to various sites.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work in extreme weather.
  • Walk, climb, stand extensively.
  • Travel to sites as needed.
  • Lift tools and equipment over 50 lbs.
  • Sit, walk, or stand for long periods.

Pay Range: In California, $25.93 - $35.09 per hour. Salaries vary based on experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
