Wind Turbine Technician - Field Service

Our client, a global leader in wind energy solutions, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Wind Turbine Technician to join their operational team in Welkom, Free State
. This hands‑on role is essential for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of wind turbine installations. The Field Service Technician will be responsible for scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of wind turbines, ensuring maximum energy output and operational uptime. This is a critical position within a company committed to expanding South Africa's renewable energy capacity. Your expertise will directly contribute to the successful operation of our wind farms in the Free State province.

• Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and servicing on wind turbine components (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic).
• Diagnose and repair faults and malfunctions in wind turbines, using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Troubleshoot complex issues to minimize downtime and ensure efficient turbine operation.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with stringent safety standards and procedures.
• Complete detailed service reports, documenting all maintenance activities, findings, and repairs.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and respond to emergency service calls as needed.
• Collaborate with site managers and other technicians to optimize turbine performance.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for maintenance processes.

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant technical qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a wind turbine technician or in a similar field (e.g., heavy machinery maintenance, industrial electrical systems).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and proven ability to work with complex machinery.
• Proficient in electrical and electronic troubleshooting and repair.
  
  Experience with hydraulic and lubrication systems.
• Ability to work at heights and in challenging weather conditions.
• Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Certification for working at heights and operating specific equipment is advantageous.
