Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Edwards Air Force Base
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and confident Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer to join our team in support of the T-7A Red Hawk flight test program. This position focuses on flight control system support during flight test operations, playing a critical role in the test control room and directly influencing flight safety and mission success. This is a high-impact, hands-on engineering role ideal for someone with strong technical judgment, real-time decision-making skills, and prior flight test experience on tactical aircraft platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a flight control subject matter expert during test flights. Monitor and interpret real-time and post-flight data related to flight control systems. Make critical, on-the-spot technical calls during flight tests, including test aborts if anomalies arise. Participate in pre- and post-flight briefings to assess risk, performance, and readiness. Perform post-flight data analysis, ensuring quality data with no system overlays or anomalies.
Collaborate closely with control room teams, flight test engineers, and program stakeholders across locations.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in flight control systems engineering, including support during flight test operations. Demonstrated experience with tactical aircraft platforms preferred. Strong technical decision-making ability in real-time/high-stakes test environments. Solid understanding of GNC principles and system-level integration. Proficiency in data analysis tools such as MATLAB/Simulink (or similar environments). Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Must possess an active Secret clearance.
Preferred
Skills:
Experience supporting military flight test programs. Familiarity with control room operations and cross-functional flight test collaboration. Effective communicator who can raise safety and system concerns confidently in dynamic environments.
