Overview
This position coordinates flight test activities among multiple engineering disciplines in support of a wide range of military related test programs. The individual should possess the ability to understand air vehicle system architecture, design and subsystems integration and mission systems avionics, and should be able to lead and mentor junior engineers at varying levels of experience.
The selected candidate must have 3-15 years' direct hands‑on flight test experience (salary competitive, based on experience) covering phases of test planning, preparation, execution and reporting.
Responsibilities- Maturity and professionalism to support the execution of flight test missions, briefings and oversee a team of discipline engineers in the Mission Control Room.
- During flights, monitor performance parameters of experimental and operational systems.
- Participate in development of overall plans such as the TEMP, Test Points, test cards, etc.
- Provide integrated engineering support for design reviews, test planning working groups, test card preparation, execution, and post‑flight reports.
- Participate in and support test program for design reviews, schedule meetings, liaison with test ranges, etc.
- Perform mechanical/electrical review of aircraft systems, sub‑systems, and components to ensure proper test plans and data collection in flight test.
- Work well in a team environment as well as independently.
- Generate post‑flight mission reports and other detailed formal reports.
- Minimum of 3 years of direct hands‑on flight test experience.
- Previous experience in flight testing of military aircraft.
- Test Pilot Graduate (a plus but not required for this mid‑level position).
- Experience in Aero‑Performance / Flight Envelope Expansion, Vehicle Subsystems performance and Mission Systems.
- Willingness to accept changing and evolving roles & responsibilities in support of customer requirements.
- Experience in Electronic Warfare and RF/IR Countermeasures.
- Previous experience as aircrew member (Pilot, EWO, NAV, etc.).
- Experience with flight test of avionics systems, weapons, live fires and sensor testing.
- Private Pilot license (a plus but not required).
Travel is required for this position.
Education RequirementsBS in a technical field or equivalent, with years of experience determining level of position filled.
Clearance RequirementsCurrent active Secret clearance or top security clearance (desired).
U.S. CitizenshipU.S. citizenship is required.
CompensationThe pay range for this position in California is $XXX,000/year to $XXX,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
