Alpha Research & Technology, Inc. located east of Sacramento in El Dorado Hills, CA, designs and manufactures ruggedized, cutting‑edge and fully integrated airborne and airborne‑related Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (C41SR
) mission systems.
The Company is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to research, develop, design and test electrical components, equipment and systems for new and existing products.
Responsibilities- Design new electronic products up to full production, including specification reviews, development program timelines and reports, design reviews, simple mechanical designs, documentation packages, preproduction builds and transfers to production.
- Participate in project teams and all activities related to the development of new products.
- Provide ongoing technical support for mature electronic products currently in production.
- Create electrical circuit designs and design documents to the requirements flowed down by Systems Engineering.
- Create schematic drawings and support PCB design, layout and routing of sub‑assemblies and systems using Pulsonix or Altium; perform Design Reviews on schematics and PCBs.
- Generate and/or approve redlines or changes to electrical designs.
- Create and structure Bill of Materials (BOM) for assigned products.
- Provide technical direction to Manufacturing Engineering, Assembly and Test personnel in the assembly, testing and troubleshooting of electrical products.
- Provide technical support to Sales and Marketing for bids and proposals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline or equivalent combined with a minimum of 6 to 8 years of electrical engineering design experience including electronic circuit technology assembly processes (analog, digital and/or high voltage design), high‑speed logic design and PCI bus experience.
- Knowledge of EMI filters and DC‑to‑DC power supply design is desired.
- Experience with Altium Designer, schematic capture and PCB layout or similar CAD software.
- Must be able to use a logic analyzer, oscilloscope and digital multi‑meter; spectrum analyzer experience a plus. Strong component‑level circuit debugging required.
- Ability to write proposals, cost and schedule estimates (including budgets), and participate in presentations.
- Must show high initiative, be self‑motivated, and have the ability to act independently on technical matters.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100D quality standards preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and ERP systems (Job Scope preferred).
- Previous or active DoD security clearance preferred. U.S. Citizenship is required.
