General Summary

The Production Technician II is responsible for providing support for special events conducted on Viejas property, at off‑site venues, and/or on the Reservation. They operate production equipment including lighting, sound, media production equipment, laser projection systems, pyrotechnic controls, stage design, and trimming.

Core Scope of Position
  • Transports, installs, and connects entertainment electrical distribution systems to include multi‑cable, socapack, distro boxes, and set generators to power and operate entertainment production equipment.
  • Reviews the work order and consults with Management to assess what lighting is required.
  • Works behind the scenes of productions to provide lighting and create special lighting effects to enhance the visual impact of a show.
  • Sets up, maintains, and operates light fixtures, control devices, and the associated electrical and rigging equipment used for stage production.
  • Plans, sets up, tests and adjusts audio system prior to the start of an event and/or performance.
  • Ensures audio or sound is picked up by microphones, amplifiers, and other equipment.
  • Operates video recorders and projection equipment such as PowerPoint and MPEC distributions.
  • Performs video editing as needed.
  • Sets up and operates console to control laser projection while complying with safety standards of operating system.
  • Interfaces with laser contractors to maintain graphic systems.
  • Performs test, calibration, and adjustments of the laser.
  • Examines, cleans, and maintains system cooling and optical equipment according to preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Receives, stores, and maintains fireworks.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical firing systems.
  • Loads and operates the equipment to launch fireworks at the correct trajectory and at the correct moment while ensuring safety.
  • Reads script to determine concert set or decoration requirements.
  • Constructs, decorates, and takes down stage design.
  • Conducts preventive maintenance checks on technical production equipment. Identifies problems and repairs or replaces equipment as needed.
  • Stays current with changes in entertainment and production technology.
  • Assists the Entertainment and Production Department with other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with and follows company and departmental policies and standard operating procedures, and applicable governmental laws and regulations.
  • Ensures that a clean, safe, hazard‑free work environment is maintained at all times with technical crew and guests.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Required Skills Knowledge and Skills
  • Proficiency in show control systems, lighting, sound, media equipment, and laser.
  • Knowledge of rigging with ability to obtain certification.
  • Knowledge of pyrotechnics with ability to obtain certification.
  • Knowledge of mechanical repair and troubleshooting electronic down to the component level.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to set up stage design from the bottom up.
  • Ability to read and understand maintenance manual and schematics.
  • Ability to make impromptu decisions, multi‑task, and work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Must be dependable, timely, and have high attention to detail.
  • Must be flexible to work different shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Required Experience Education / Certification
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • California driver’s license required.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
Experience
  • 3 or more years of related experience and/or training.
