Resort Activities Director

Our client, a stunning leisure resort nestled near Welkom, Free State , is seeking an energetic and innovative Activities Director to curate and manage an engaging program of guest experiences. This role is pivotal in ensuring our guests have a memorable and fulfilling stay by providing a diverse range of recreational, social, and entertainment activities. You will be responsible for managing a team of activity coordinators and ensuring the seamless execution of all scheduled events and activities. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the leisure offerings of a beloved resort in the heart of the Free State .

• Develop, plan, and implement a comprehensive schedule of daily activities for guests of all ages.
• Manage and lead a team of activity coordinators, providing training, motivation, and performance feedback.
• Source and manage relationships with external vendors for specialized activities or entertainment.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all guests participating in activities, adhering to all safety protocols.
• Manage the budget for the activities department, ensuring cost-effectiveness and optimal resource allocation.
• Promote activities to guests through various channels, including the resort website, social media, and in-house communications.
• Coordinate with other resort departments (e.g., Food & Beverage, Housekeeping) to ensure smooth execution of activities.
• Assess guest feedback and participation rates to continuously improve and innovate the activity offerings.
• Maintain inventory of all activity equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good condition and readily available.
• Organize special events, themed nights, and seasonal celebrations to enhance the guest experience.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, such as recreation management, leisure activities coordination, or entertainment programming, preferably within a resort or hotel environment.
• Proven experience in leading and managing a team.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to multitask effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a talent for engaging diverse groups of people.
• Creative thinking and a passion for developing innovative and fun activities.
• Experience in budget management and cost control.
• First Aid and CPR certification is a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of various sports, games, arts, and crafts suitable for a resort setting.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as needed.
